Electrician in Loganholme, 4129
Loganholme is a commuter suburb, plain and simple. The M1 runs straight through it, the Logan Hyperdome anchors the place, and most people here are 25 minutes from Brisbane or the Coast either way. The houses tell the same story: a lot of late-80s and 90s project homes, a big slice of them owned by investors and rented out, plus newer estates down towards the river at the south end.
That housing mix throws up a fairly predictable set of jobs. Here’s what we get called for most.
If you own a rental here
A fair chunk of Loganholme is investor-owned and managed through agencies around Logan Central and Hyperdome way. So a lot of our calls come from property managers, not the people living in the house. And the boards in those rentals often haven’t been touched since handover.
The deadline landlords keep ringing about is 1 January 2027. Every Queensland rental needs interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms by then, in each bedroom, in the hallways linking bedrooms to the rest of the home, and on every storey. If the place was built or last renovated before 2022, odds are it doesn’t comply yet. Worth checking the full rundown of the QLD smoke alarm laws rather than assuming the agent already sorted it.
We do the wiring side: hard-wired interconnected alarms to AS 3786, and a certificate of compliance handed over when it’s done. That certificate is the bit your property manager actually files.
What goes wrong in the older brick homes
The brick-veneer and rendered-block homes that fill most of Loganholme were wired to the standards of their day. Back then that meant single-pole breakers and, on a lot of boards, no safety switches on the power circuits at all. No RCD means nothing cuts the power fast if there’s a fault to earth, and that’s exactly the situation where a tenant plugs in a dodgy kettle or an old cord has gone brittle in the wall.
Ceramic fuses or breakers with no safety switches? Get a switchboard upgrade priced. We’ll quote it fixed and tell you straight whether it’s a now job or a watch-it job. No upsell.
Then there’s the aircon. Half the split systems we look at in Loganholme were bolted on years after the house was built, and whoever did it ran them off an existing circuit instead of a dedicated one. So the breaker trips the moment the compressor pulls hard on a 38-degree afternoon. One properly rated circuit and it stops.
Aircon and fans
A Logan January without aircon is rough. We fit split systems and run the dedicated circuit on the same visit, one trip, one compliance certificate, no second call-out. Adding a head to an existing multi-system, or running fans through the bedrooms before summer hits? Same deal. What we install is laid out on the air conditioning and EV charging page.
Power points and outdoor GPOs
Old homes never had enough outlets. You end up with powerboards stacked behind every TV and the odd scorch mark on a thirty-year-old socket nobody’s swapped. We add power points and ceiling fans constantly around here. A weatherproof outdoor GPO for the patio or the shed is a common tack-on, RCD-protected, done right.
Nearby suburbs we cover
We’re around Logan most weeks, including Shailer Park just east and Daisy Hill over to the west.
