Electrician in Mount Ommaney (4074)
Mount Ommaney is on our doorstep. We’re based in Westlake, a few minutes up Oxley Road, so a job in your street isn’t a drive across town for us. We know the hilly cul-de-sacs, the long driveways, and the houses set well back from the road.
The suburb went up mostly through the 1980s and into the 1990s, brick-and-tile family homes on bigger blocks, double garages, the odd pool out the back. Good bones. But the electrical gear underneath is now thirty or forty years old, and a few of the same problems keep cropping up.
Switchboards that haven’t kept up
The single-pole circuit breakers fitted in a lot of 80s homes don’t do what a safety switch does. Queensland rules now require RCDs on power and lighting circuits in homes. If your board still runs ceramic fuses, or breakers with no safety switch, it’s worth a look. A switchboard upgrade swaps the old board for a modern one, fits RCDs across the circuits, and you finish with a certificate of compliance. If you want the detail first, our piece on switchboard safety and RCDs walks through it.
Not enough power points
Open-plan kitchens, a TV in every room, a home office that didn’t exist when the house was built, now an EV in the garage. The original wiring wasn’t sized for any of it. Extension leads snaking across the floor and double-adaptors stacked on each other are a hassle and a fire risk. Adding dedicated circuits and flush power points is a tidy half-day job. More on power points and ceiling fans.
Aircon in bigger homes
Larger floor plans need more thought. Some Mount Ommaney homes have ducted systems put in back in the early 2000s that are now due for replacement or a zoning rethink. Others are bolting split systems onto rooms the original ducting never reached, a converted garage, a studio out the back, a west-facing bedroom that cooks in summer. We handle the full electrical side of air conditioning and EV charging.
Renovation and extension work
The Mount Ommaney Centre keeps this pocket of the Centenary suburbs in demand, and plenty of owners are putting money back into the houses rather than moving on, kitchen renos, alfresco builds, garage conversions. Every one of those needs a licensed sparky on the electrical work. No licence, no certificate of compliance, and that’s the document a buyer’s solicitor asks about when you sell.
Our QLD electrical licence is 1513082. Every job carries a five-year written workmanship guarantee and a certificate of compliance when we’re done. Fixed quote before we start. No call-out fee.
If your power keeps tripping, that’s usually the circuits telling you they’re overloaded. Here’s why that happens and what to do.
