When it can’t wait

Power gone across the house. A burning smell near the meter box. A switchboard that’s buzzing, or a power point that’s scorched. That’s not a “book it in for next week” job, and you shouldn’t treat it like one.

If something electrical has you worried right now, the first move is simple. If there’s smoke, heat or a burning smell, switch off at the main switch on your board and get everyone clear. Here’s the honest version. When one of us is available, we come out fast, often the same day, and after hours when we can. When we genuinely can’t get to you, we’ll tell you straight away so you’re not left waiting on a promise that was never real. Either way you get a real person on the phone, not a call centre reading a script.

If the whole street is dark, that’s an Energex network issue, not your wiring. Ring Energex on 13 19 62, they run the poles and wires and they’re the ones who can fix it.

What it costs

No inflated “emergency” fee just to turn up. We look at the fault, tell you what’s going on, and give you a price before we start the repair. A five-minute fix is priced like one. If it’s a bigger job, you’ll know the number before we touch it.

Do this before we arrive

Smoke, heat or a burning smell? Switch off at the main switch on your board and keep everyone away from it.
Just a tripped safety switch? Unplug everything on that circuit, then try resetting once. If it won’t hold, leave it off and don’t keep forcing it.
Whole street dark? That’s Energex on 13 19 62, not your wiring.
Water near the board or fittings after a storm? Don’t touch it. Keep clear and call us.
